Welcome back to the Costa Del Sol and another blog from your favorite luxury agent, Verdin Property!
2021 is already flying by, the rigors and stresses of the coronavirus pandemic are sloooowly petering out and mankind is looking forward to some sense of normality thanks to various vaccinations being made available and certain restrictions pertaining to travel being relaxed. For those in the hospitality industry, this could not come soon enough. Regardless of name and reputation, hotels all over the world have struggled, and the Costa Del Sol is no exception.
Fortunately, things are looking up, bookings are coming back in as Spain ramps up preparations to welcome back tourists, and many places have been stamped as Covid safe tourist spots whilst the Junta De Andalucia have also announced FREE Covid-19 travel insurance for any tourist who is staying in a government approved property, ie. a hotel. Strict measures are in force to help facilitate this ‘transition’ to being open to the world again and guests can expect full social distancing rules, masked people everywhere and tonnes of disinfectant, sanitizers… you name it. Whilst for many abroad it’s not always been compulsory to have all these regulations in place, you can take it as being a good sign!
So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best places you can safely enjoy a trip to in 2021.
Where else? The Marbella Club Hotel is a very stylish resort, set on the Golden Mile of Marbella. The hotel is over 60 years old, having started life as the von Hohenlohe family’s humble Mediterranean hideaway, Finca Santa Margarita, born as the Marbella Club in 1954. but it certainly doesn’t look its’ age, at Marbella club they certainly keep up with the times. This hotel even offers its own botanical gardens.
Trust us when we tell you how it’s extremely relaxing to be surrounded by various scents of oranges, bananas, lemons, avocados and figs growing on the trees. Indeed, the gardens, landscaped by Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe are breathtaking and truly exotic. It could be argued, though that the most luxurious feature of the Marbella Club is the attention to detail. Here, everyone and everything is well taken care of. The perfect place for all the family!
The Puente Romano, Marbella. Like the Marbella Club, this superlative resort is located on the Golden Mile of Marbella and was built in 1974 as one of the most exclusive apartment complexes on Marbella’s Golden Mile. The big sell with the Puente Romano is the atmosphere and the layout, which feels just like an Andalusian coastal village.
The resort received the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler Award as “Best Resort” in Spain in 2016. Their approach is to delight guests with a personalized experience to help them fully recover from the stresses and strains of everyday life whilst they holiday. This is a hotel that adds new meaning to the word luxury, and it’s certainly not a place you forget easily. Believe us….

The Gran Hotel Miramar is a hotel oozing with star quality and history, indeed it looks just like a palace. Set in Malaga, this 5* luxury hotel was originally opened in 1926 by Alfonso XIII and enjoyed a rich history, including being used as a field hospital during the Spanish Civil War. The current jewel of splendor and member of ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’ you see now is thanks to Hoteles Santos who bought the property in 2016.
The attention to detail and amenities guests can enjoy at the Miramar are second to none, including a sumptuous spa and wellness center, two restaurants plus the highly regarded Royal Lounge Coffee & Bar. The Parador is situated in a spectacular spot in the heart of the city, beside Ronda’s emblematic Puente Nuevo. Housed in the former town hall building, the location is incredible, with unparalleled views of the Tagus River, a ravine 120 meters deep. Inside the hotel, you will enjoy the blue, green, yellow and red tones of the colorful fabrics that decorate its bright, spacious rooms. You can go for a swim or sunbathe in the gardens by the swimming pool, or marvel at the views from the guest rooms, many of which are duplexes with a terrace.
The city beckons you to take a leisurely stroll that will allow you to visit the old Arab medina quarter on the southern bank of the Guadalevín River, cross the New Bridge and walk along Alameda del Tajo and its avenues filled with vegetation, which lead to a spectacular scenic overlook on the edge of the abyss.
Now obviously there are plenty of other hotels available, depending on what your plans are, how much you want to spend etc etc, however we feel these hotels deserve a special mention, for their own reasons.
