AREA GUIDE: Ski Season in Sierra Nevada!
- By admin
It’s winter, it’s cold, there’s snow on the hills….. no we’re not talking about the Scottish Highlands, we’re talking about Sierra Nevada, here in Southern Spain.
Located just two hours from Malaga, this winter wonderland is a haven for ski enthusiasts, day trippers and thrill seekers alike. If this is your sort of place to go, please read on! If not, read on anyway…you never know!
Sierra Nevada provides one of the widest and most attractive ski domains in southern Europe. The winter season has 110.4km of ski distributed in 131 pistes with the largest ski slope in Spain, measuring 1,200m!
However, when you’re not enjoying yourselves on the slopes (we’ll get into activities in a minute) you need to know some of the very best places to stay!
Built from seasoned Finnish timber, El Lodge boasts sophistication and comforting familiarity in one. El Lodge offers you the possibility of reserving the entire hotel and the opportunity of being enamored by the chic and unique vibe. Whether for a family holiday, a romantic trip, a product presentation or corporate team building session, El Lodge can become your very own chalet with the comforts of having our entire staff at your disposal.
This luxury retreat is nestled in the heart of Granada, and boasts 21 guest rooms, most of which benefit from their own outdoor terraces and Jacuzzi for the utmost in rest and relaxation. All of the rooms at El Lodge offer the same cozy interior that offers both class and beauty, without compromising on comfort.
Silverfield Villa is an ultra modern contemporary property located near Granada. This stunning luxury villa occupies an enviable position close to the historic city of Granada at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, with the local town of La Zubia only a five minute drive away.
The sloping site offers unrivalled views down to the city of Granada and up to the peaks of Sierra Nevada, where the excellent ski resort offers skiing, snowboarding and winter activities for over 5 months of the year. The location of the villa is perfect – less than 15 minutes to Granada city and around 40 minutes to Sierra Nevada ski station by car, which is included with your stay.
An experience at Silverfield Villa is one of a kind, which will stay with you for the rest of your life!
NOW, WHAT TO DO?
The obvious place to start is with some skiing. However you can also practice snowboarding, telemark etc. on the pistes or visit the training school for some lessons, always good to conquer the slopes!
For the more relaxed and laid back among you, there’s plenty of choice for chilling in front of a roaring fire, enjoying a cocktail hour or even taking a dip in a heated pool.
El Lodge has the only open-air, heated pool in the Sierra Nevada. Enjoy a swim with the heat of the Sierra sun at your back and the picturesque mountain backdrop.
The outdoor area is complemented by a large sauna with natural light flooding in and a Finnish hot tub. Enjoy a sensation of total wellness, relaxing your body and mind while taking in the fresh mountain air.
You can also unwind and plan your next Sierra Nevada adventure at The Bar, a fun and contemporary take on vintage ski décor. The menu features an exciting blend of classic cocktails and original concoctions, such as the “Gluhwein El Lodge” so why not pop in for a pre-dinner aperitif or stay for a casual late drink!
