Give your children a head start in life.

Welcome back to another Verdin Property blog! With the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of schools around the world closed their doors, and Spain was no exception. Here in Marbella though, life is back on track and the education system is still exceptional.
When buying a property in Marbella for you and your family, schools are often a main cause of stress for parents. But no need to worry! When it comes down to quality of education in Spain, Malaga ranks third best behind only Madrid and Barcelona, so your children are in great hands. Especially considering the caliber of international schools in and around Marbella.
In the society of today, interpersonal skills are a must, and thanks to the truly international nature of the Marbella community, multinational interaction, knowledge of languages and various cultures of the world are top of the list of assets you learn, and they’re essential to have as part of your dynamic.
First, let’s take a look at some of the different parts of the Spanish education system:
And now let’s check out the international options for our foreign residents. These are mainly ages 3-18, covering all bases.
Located just a few minutes drive from Marbella, on the cusp of the Golden Mile and Sierra Blanca, Swans International offers primary and secondary education that follows the statutory Spanish curriculum as well as British National.
Situated just on the outskirts of the main hub of Nueva Andalucia and Puerto Banus, close to Dama de Noche, Aloha College offers education in both Spanish and English, affording students the chance to gain qualifications from both systems.
Laude is located in San Pedro, just 10 minutes drive west of Marbella and is very well known on the coast for offering a high level of education, both British style as well as Bachillerato (Spanish, ages 2-18).
Of course there are several other options up and down the coast including St Anthony’s near Fuengirola, Mayfair International Academy near Estepona, the Benalmadena International College plus many more …
As you can expect, we always advise our clients who have school age children to do all their research in advance, including checking what options are in their property search area, all the way up to meeting those in charge of the schools to discuss their children’s needs.
Oh, and remember to apply in advance, a lot of these schools have long waiting lists …
And for when your children have completed the mainstream education system, many will no doubt look at university. Malaga University welcomes foreign students (we know people who have studied there) whilst other options include the first American University, Design College, Les Roches School of Hotel Management and Schellhammer Business School.
Again, check in advance what will work best for you and your family!
One important point we should mention is that Marbella caters for various different nationalities including Swedish, German and French to name but a few.
Hopefully you’ve found this article informative with regards to one of the most important aspects of life, not just in Marbella, but in general.
We will be back next week with another new blog, but for now we will leave you with our latest YouTube video and, a new feature, our Property Of The Week.
