So we thought, why not share our top picks for each budget, as well as give some insights into the areas we recommend for your search?

Torremolinos – still bargains to be had

Ok, we’ll be honest. Less than 100,000 euros does not get you much on the Costa Del Sol unfortunately. Putting absolutely no criteria into our inter-agency database which holds approximately 30,000 properties for sale at any one time, we get a total of less than 500 residential properties publicly available for sale at the time of writing this article. Whilst this may seem like a decent amount of properties, bear in mind that this number also takes into account locations throughout the WHOLE of Andalucia….

However, let’s not forget the fact that it’s still possible to purchase at this price point. So, depending on your personal preferences with regards to location, our top area picks would be:


  • Torremolinos
  • Manilva
  • La Duquesa


  • Coin
  • Alora
  • Guaro
  • Monda
  • Tolox

There are a couple of additional areas where you can find a property for less than 100,000 euros however the locations mentioned offer the greatest possibilities of finding what you are looking for. As always, we must stress that this is a low budget for the area, so please don’t expect a palace, but you should find something suitable for your requirements!

€100,001 – €250,000

Jardines de Las Lagunas – affordable new development

Up to €250,000…. This is a very commonplace budget, you can go so far as to call it ‘the norm’, as we see this mentioned day in, day out. Again, going by our database, at the time of writing there were a total of just under 6.500 properties for sale within this price range.

Within this price point you can realistically purchase a property in most areas, from an average apartment in Marbella to detached villas in the highly regarded rural areas of Alora, Coin and Tolox, which we have previously mentioned.

We will also point out that there are also a selection of new developments available within this budget, from Small Oasis in the Manilva / Duquesa area (prices from €97,500) to Jardines de Las Lagunas on the outskirts of Fuengirola (prices from €170.000).

As you can gather, this is the so-called ‘norm’ so we won’t put any location preferences out there, we recommend you look for yourself. However what we will say is that a very popular saying is ‘buy the worst house in the best area, rather than the best house in the worst area’ … you can interpret that as you wish!

€250,001 – €500,000

Estepona – seeing a surge in property demand

At this level, we start getting into the realms of a little added ‘luxury’ onto what you can purchase at the previous price point. Whilst you basically still get the same options, we can start adding some other new developments into play, as well as in-demand areas such as Nueva Andalucia, Puerto Banus (there’s more than a port front you know) and certain beachside or even beachfront areas.

By adding in these areas there is inevitably a degree of market saturation so finding what you want could just as easily be a piece of cake as it could be like looking for a needle in a haystack. What we mean by this is that this price range incorporates everything from a standard two bedroom, two bathroom apartment, to three bedroom penthouse to a small finca / detached rural villa… but don’t be alarmed, Verdin Property can do all the donkey work, just send us your criteria!

As we’ve explained, you can basically buy where you like but we highly recommend:


  • Nueva Andalucia
  • Marbella
  • Estepona

In these locations you have the usual range of 2-3 bedroom apartments and penthouses plus some townhouses and detached villas (likely renovation properties)


  • Alhaurin El Grande / De La Torre
  • Coin
  • Alora

In these inland locations you should have no difficulty in finding a good house, be it a townhouse or detached villa.

€500,001 – €1,000,000

Higueron West – a stunning development

Now we’re really getting into the realms of luxury, at least in terms of apartments on the coastal areas. Towards the higher end of this price range you can find a nice selection of villas in locations throughout Marbella and Benahavis, however be advised that it’s still not quite good enough for a brand new house. For this brief, there are a handful of developments throughout the Estepona region where new build modern villas are on offer for prices typically from just over the half a million mark. If traditional / Andalusian is your thing though… you should hopefully be laughing all the way to the notary to get the keys!

Going back to apartments, with a budget in this range you can basically get any resale property you want throughout the aforementioned Marbella, Nueva Andalucia and Puerto Banus, as well as the ultra luxurious and sought after neighborhoods of Sierra Blanca and The Golden Mile. You can also start looking at more new developments including Palo Alto, a superb development just 5 minutes from Marbella town yet offering a haven of peace and tranquility, plus the most popular new development on the coast, Higueron West, which is selling out at lightning speed. Located between Fuengirola and Benalmadena and offering a vast array of facilities including spa, green areas, dog playground, Michelin star restaurant and the 5 star Hilton hotel, this development is one you MUST check out!

€1,000,001 – €2,500,000

Marbella East – an area that’s highly sought after

Welcoming all millionaires to their new playground!

Joking aside. it really is a busy playground at this level of the market. The most luxurious apartments and penthouses are available, be they resale or newly built / off plan, plus the villas start coming in thick and fast from ALL locations. We previously called up to €250,000 the ‘norm’ for apartments…. welcome to the ‘norm’ when it comes to villas, and you can go for traditional or modern too!

Here at Verdin Property, this is what we consider to be our bread and butter. As long as you, the client, can narrow down the requirements to be as specific as possible, we can (almost) guarantee that it exists within this price bracket. And whilst you may think, surely there can’t be all that many villas at this price, let us assure you that there are!

This is not a bad thing either…. it simply means that you have neighbors in equally valued properties, rather than a mish-mash of different prices.

€2,500,001 – €5,000,000

La Zagaleta is worth checking out …

Ok. so you can virtually have what you want. The only exceptions will come in villa form…. beachfront is still mostly out of the question in the prime areas of Marbella, and palaces don’t quite make it into this price point.

But feel free to take your pick of anything else. At this level you can easily purchase in the crème de la crème of private communities, including Sierra Blanca, El Madroñal and La Zagaleta, home to royalty, celebrities and the world elite. These specific locations are ideal if you enjoy some privacy, as well as the feeling of security and luxury, however other areas of Marbella, Benahavis and Estepona all offer their own areas of note, such as the tranquil locations of Elviria, Atalaya and El Paraiso.

Of course we understand that some of you want to live right in the thick of the action, so Puerto Banus, The Golden Mile and new developments that are all singing and all dancing where on-site facilities are concerned are yours to choose from!

The most expensive properties on the Costa Del Sol are certain sights to behold, both internally and externally.
